A little holiday cheer

I've been wanting to do more nail posts, but since getting my job in August, I have worn nail polish maybe once.  I can't wear anything but neutrals, reds, and calm pinks, so I have been sad about not getting to do anything fun.  I did decide to do a mixture of red and pink for the holidays, though, and even though I'm not supposed to have designs, I snuck some on - because I don't see why not, darnit.

So in this manicure I used China Glaze's Mistletoe Me! and then added a little flare on the thumbnails with a gold StripeRite by SoEasy.  I was going to go with China Glaze's Ruby Pumps, then saw Mistletoe Me! hiding in the background and liked it's frosty touch.  Hope all of your holidays go well this year, and have a happy new year!  I think I'll do some Zoya Trixie for New Year's, maybe use that as a tip over Sea Spray or Kinetic Candy by China Glaze?  We'll see.

Saint Patrick's Day Nails

I decided to try out a little Saint Patrick's Day design today!  I was inspired by a Reddit Laquerista, ketofused (see her post here).

Below are the polishes I used:

From left to right: a glittery gold StripeRite, #150 Sun Kissed by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, Re-Fresh Mint by China Glaze, Starboard by China Glaze, #21 White On by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, and (oddly blue-looking in this photo?) Four Leaf Clover by China Glaze.
So, obviously I used Starboard as the base coat and a dotting tool and Sun Kissed, White On, Re-Fresh Mint and the Stripe-Rite for the dots.
Then I used the smaller side of the dotting tool and Four Leaf Clover to create a clover on my thumb.  I used the Stripe-Rite to make three small dots alongside the stem.
Annndd a less blurry photo of the dots, for posterity.

I hope you like, this is the first design I have been inspired to do in a long while.  Thank you for following!!  :)

Pink Friday by OPI

I have been looking for the perfect pink ever since I began polishing my nails...  I finally found it in Pink Friday by OPI.  Every other polish I looked at had the right color, but they were all so sheer, which was not what I was looking for.  On to the photos:

1 Coat - you can see here that while the polish is opaque, it goes on a bit streaky.
2 Coats - a little less streaky here.
 3 Coats - that's about right!
Honestly, I can't remember if I went with a fourth coat on this one...  I may have, but I'm not sure!

I don't know why the photo uploader decided to turn my images..  Anyway, I had such a fun time wearing this on my nails that I got a pedicure with this color as well!

I know I've promised Deborah Lippmann's Across the Universe as well as OPI's Excuse Moi, but for the next little bit I've just got to stay away from the glitters!  I almost put a little accent nail of Excuse Moi over this mani, but I decided against it since I've been dreading taking off glitter polish the last few times.  Thanks for following!

75th Post!

Hello Everyone!  This is my 75th post, wee!  Today I'll be showing you Deborah Lippmann's Ruby Red Slippers, another gift from the holidays.

This is probably about four coats, plus top coat.  I like this polish, except that the larger glitters began to chip off at the edges of my nails.

There's also the huge frustration with actually taking the polish off!!  I liked this polish, but it chipped MUCH faster than lots of my other polishes do.  I don't know if that's just because this one is a glitter, but I've heard better things about Deborah Lippmann than this.

And, since I didn't do the layer by layer photos on this one, I thought I would reveal what is in my tiny Coach bag!  I received a lovely Coach purse as a graduation gift, and decided to spend some of my other holiday money on this lovely little keychain:

Thanks for following!  Up next I've got OPI's Pink Friday from the Nicki Minaj collection :)

Glitter in the Air by Deborah Lippmann

Today I've got another of my gifts from the holiday, and that is Glitter in the Air by Deborah Lippmann.  I decided to wear it alone, though next time I think I will layer it on top of a light blue.

I thought this color was nice, and pretty to have on.  I didn't have any problem getting the larger glitters onto my nails, as they came out of the bottle and off the brush quite easily (not like another glitter I have where you practically have to grab the pieces off of the brush with tweezers and place them on your nail).

Here are some photos, layer by layer:

 One layer
 Two layers
 Three layers
 Four layers
Four layers

So, as you can tell, this polish is quite sheer, as there is a super visible nail line...  However, it really didn't bother me too much!  I thought it looked just as the name describes it.  I like the blue tint this polish gave my nails.

Something quite interesting did happen with this polish that I've never seen before.  After a couple of days, I could press down on the tip of my pointer finger and there was a very obvious air pocket under the polish that would get larger when I pressed it.  I could push most of the bubble back down, but eventually I got so bothered with it that I just began peeling the polish off.  So, to be honest, I can't say much about the removal process since I actually peeled so much of this color off that by the time I brought out the polish remover, I only had about three halves of nails to remove.  Haha.

Anyway, I hope you like this post.  I've got two more Deborah Lippmann's coming your way (Ruby Red Slippers and Across the Universe), two OPIs (Excuse Moi and Pink Friday) and two China Glazes (Lighthouse and Reggae to Riches) - stay tuned!

OPI's Warm & Fozzie

I saw this color and was excited about it - something about it is so warm and inviting, what a wonderful name to have, Warm & Fozzie!  It looks super packed with glitter, but not like anything I have seen before, so I decided to do a few process shots.

 Above, coat 1!

 Above, coat 2!

And finally, coat three with a top coat!  The top picture shows the glitter a little better than the bottom.

Now, what I absolutely LOVE about this polish is that even though it is packed with beautiful glitter, it DRIES SMOOTHLY!  I mean, that is so exciting to me.  If you want a glitter with a smooth finish, this is the one for you!  And, after looking at photos of Designer De Better, it seems to be just the same, only with mostly silver glitter!

I hope you have enjoyed this post :)
